Education

A World-Class Educational Experience for ALL Children

Will co-chairs the African American Student Achievement Action Group and he believes, in a post-Charlottesville world, it’s more important than ever to ask the tough questions and have real conversations about race, class, and educational equity. He supports universal access to early childhood education – a key to giving kids what they need to succeed in school. He will also work to reduce class size and ensure all students have the resources they need to be successful.

Youth and Aging Americans

A High Quality of Life for ALL County Residents

Like many families, Will and his wife Michele experienced what it’s like to raise young children while caring for aging parents. He will be a leading voice for affordable and accessible child care, better services to our aging Americans can stay healthy and in their homes longer, and paid family- and sick-leave to help alleviate families’ financial burdens.

Economic Opportunity

Real Experience with Job Creation and Economic Development

Will created and led Summer R.I.S.E., the largest youth summer career exploration program in the
history of Montgomery County. He’s also served as counsel on the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee. He’ll bring his experience creating innovative programs to serve Montgomery County’s job seekers – creating pathways into county college and vocational training – and helping small
businesses grow.

Smart Growth

Common Sense Can Guide Thoughtful Growth

Will knows how long commute times, traffic congestion and lack of consistent planning has led to a lack of workable public transit. He knows we need common sense solutions to encourage smart growth of our county’s tax base while maintaining the quality of life that draws people and business here. That means investing in the Purple Line and the BRT, encouraging development around those transit hubs,
and finding the state-of-the-art traffic management, pedestrian, and bicycle systems to help reduce
congestion.
